Internal flights in Thailand?
Travelling to Thailand in June for 3 weeks and have been advised by friends that rather than staying in Bangkok for a long time to look for internal flights and head to either Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan or Phuket.
Does anyone have experience of any of these places, alternative suggestions, and any idea about prices of internal flights?? Also any information on accomodation costs etc greatly appreciated.
Doing loads of research myself but think it’s good to get real opinions as well.

First of all I think your friends are right in saying that it is better to move around a bit rather than staying in Bangkok for a long while. Bangkok is a truly amazing and unique city, however its busy and there is a lot of traffic there. I’ve been to all those islands you have mentioned, however Koh Samui is my favourite because it has great nightlife and the beaches are generally clean, well maintained and not over crowded.
Koh Samui is an oasis of natural beauty, with its white sandy beaches, dazzling coral, luscious lagoons, picturesque waterfalls, swaying coconut trees and crystal clear water. You will not be disapointed with Samui!
If you want to move around, you can easliy visit these three islands plus Bangkok in the space of 3 weeks. Koh Samui can easily be reached from BKK and the flight is around an hour or so. Koh Phangan can easily be reached from Samui by either speed boat or ferrie – the fares vary, but they are extreamly resonable.
If you want to go to Phuket, Bangkok Airways operate several flights a day to the island from Samui and BKK. If you want to get the cheapest flights possible, then I would recommend booking them ASAP with Bangkok Airways, because they oftern do certain promotions, such as ‘Web Advanced’ and ‘Early Bird’ – some flights can be brought from 900 Baht (not including taxes) but usually sell out as the date gets closer. Personally, I would suggest:
3 / 4 days Bangkok
3 days Koh Phangan
8 / 9 days Koh Samui
8 / 9 days Phuket
