How much is the fare from Phuket Airport to patong Beach by taxi ?
And do they have meters or do you have to ask beforehand ?
Hi:) Depends, if you book online then your looking at about 700 baht upwards for a taxi for up to 4 people, if you wait until you get there and you barter hard then you can get a taxi for 350 baht (make sure you agree the price before) Never ever get in a taxi or tuk-tuk in phuket without agreing the price before. You also have two other options, firstly if you already have a hotel booked, e-mail them and ask how much they charge for a airport transfer. Some are cheap others are expensive, really depends where your staying. Secondly there is a bus from the airport but it will take you to phuket city, where you can either stay for a day (not much there worth seeing though) or get a bus to patong beach. This option will cost 150 baht per person and despite it taking more than 2 hours to get to patong this way, it’s a good way of seeing the island and meeting the locals. Been to phuket 3 times and did it different each time, my advice is mail your hotel and if they are too epensive, wait until you get to the airport and then barter hard with the taxi guys, if they wont agree with a price your happy with move on to the next one, one will be sure to follow you and accept if your price is realistic.
