Where to go in Thailand as a couple in July?

My partner and I are going to Thailand for 2.5 weeks in early July. We want to spend 3 days or so in Bangkok, so I can get some dental treatment (any suggested ‘good’ dentists appreciated!). From there, we want to go to a more remote area (eg. Chiang Mai) for some walking/jungle-type experiences for about 5 days. Then we would like to go to a nice beach area and this is where we need help…

I believe July is the start of the wet season and that Phuket (our original destination) is not a good place to go at this time of year due to its unpredictability weather-wise. Koh Samui sounds too touristy for us (in our mid-late 30s and our partying days are over). So where does that leave?

It has been suggested we go to Hua Hin, which is where the royal family go, but I’m not too sure about that.

We want to stay in a smaller resort, away from loud families/kids, on a beach, at least 3-star…something boutique style would be great, depending on $.

Thanks.

There is one dentist clinic in Siam Center – Bangkok (Top Floor) which quite good and they speak english. It cost me 10,000 Bt for instant teeth whitening. I can’t remember the name but there is only one there.

I stay in Koh Samui now. June-July is good weather. There are many quite area where you can choose. On the west coast is the most quite area in Samui. There are many things to do here than just a party.

I went to Hua hin last year and I like it because it’s very clean and tidy city (No girly bar). If you play golf, Hua hin is good place. There are many courses over there. However, if you like beaches, the beach here is boring for me. It’s not same with Phuket or Samui which more tropical style.

What about Krabi? It is quite than Phuket and Samui. There are many little islands to visit and the water is perfect but again, it’s on the same side with phuket (Andaman sea), so the weather should be similar during that period.
