I have been to Chiang Mai Pataya Rayong Huahin Cha Am Koh Samet any suggestions MY GF lives in Khon Kaen so can be in the Northern Areas also
I dont mean obvious places Ie Phuket or Koh Samui just unusual or off the beaten track not too touristy just suggestions
Thanks

If your GF is from Khon Kaen and you have never been there, it is a really nice place to hang out and relax. You can get a really nice room at the Princess Hotel near the Sofitel for US $30 or less. Has its own disco, billiards room, karaoke room, etc. Transportation from the airport to the hotel is 70 baht.

There are lots of nice temples in KK, massages are very cheap, the lake and the dam, food is dirt cheap, and most locals enjoy foreigners. Lots of nice restaurants around the lake in town including the Lakeside which offers live music nightly, and excellent low cost meals. Very romantic.

Udon Thani is a nice place to go as well.

Khao Yai National Forest is a great place to visit, however, you need transportation to get to the top of the mountain. Khao Yai has lots of waterfalls, is pure nature, (you can camp on top of the mountain), and the forests are full of WILD ANIMALS. These are not zoo animals but animals in their natural habitat and therefore they are dangerous. Khai Yai is close to Prachinburi and between Prachinburi and Khao Yai are some nice inexpensive cabins and resorts to stay.

Vientienne in Laos is also another cheap place to visit, however you do need a passport and have to pay on arrival visa to enter the country. For US it is around US $30 to be paid in cash.

You have already visited most of the touristy places in Thailand. However, the places I mention like KK and Udon Thani are where lots of foreigners have decided to move and make their permanent homes.

I split my time between work in BKK, home in Khon Kaen and home in Chiang Mai.

A few bahts and a digital camera to record the memories is all you need to have a good time.

Hope this helps.
