Things to do in Phuket, thailand? cheap airplane tickets?

I was wondering what kinds of activities you can do in phuket? is august a good time to go? And lastly, any idea where to get cheap airplane tickets? I’m traveling there with my family from china…shanghai/hangzhou area…

Would help a great deal if you gave travel dates – the cheapest flights I could find in August were from Shanghai to Bangkok tavelling 18th August -31 st August ( 1830 CNY Return) then book separate flight from Bangkok to Phuket (HKT) (399 CNY Return ).
