Has anyone stayed at the Hilton on Phuket?
There rates are spectacular ($110) and the pictures look great, but I know that isnt always accurate! My boyfriend and I are going in April and were looking for a nice resort, not too loud or too far from everything/things to do, a nice beach, great views, etc. Is it too American possibly, not very Thai-styled if that makes sense? I would love to stay at a gorgeous bungalow on the beach type of thing (like in the movies!) Thanks for your help!
If you are looking for a “goegeous bungalow on the beach” then I would forget the Hilton !
It is not ‘on the beach’, it is a very large modern hotel ( it was the Arcadia ) and is across the main beach road from the beach at Karon.
There is only truly ‘one’ hotel right on the beach at Karon and that is the Karon Beach Resort, but that is a very busy mid price family sort of vacation hotel.
If you want to stay in Karon about the best for ‘tropical style’ I would say would be the Centara Villas which are very romantic tropical style on the north headland of Karon. Superb views ! You have to walk down the pathway onto the beach but if you want tropical style but also close to lively areas like Karon, Kata and Patong ( busiest ) then it is convenient.
If you want bungalow style you need to think of much quieter beach areas further north along the coast like Bangtao or further.
If you don’t want to be ‘far’ from restaurants, shopping and entertainment but want something tropical style I would suggest having a look at Centara Villas.
For about that price you would get a deluxe ocean view room at the Centara
