family trip to Phuket?
Hi there,
Wanted to book a hotel in Phuket for my family trip in Oct’10. Was told Holiday Inn is gd.But their family suite rooms are booked. My kids are 7 & 4 any good hotel recomendation suitable for a family trip like our?

I went to “Le Meridien”, a beautiful resort that is very family friendly. They have massive pools with floating straw huts in the centre as bars where adults can enjoy tropical cocktails, you can even bring the drinks into the pool if you need to attend to your children. The resort even owns it’s own beach (It is very big too), where Thai ladies set up little huts and offer to plait and bead hair (Something a little girl would enjoy, if you have girls). They have various activities such as rock climbing, archery etc… Also, the hotel arranges day trips if you request for one. I took one to ride elephants in the Jungle.
When I was last there, a man who had a baby elephant would come through the hotel and walk around the hotel complex allowing kids and adults to pet and feed the elephant. I had a great time at the resort, it is also close by to Patong Beach, Phuket’s most famous beach.
I would also like to add that although I agree to an extent with the above comment. There are plenty of ways to get passed the tourist spots as Phuket is a fairly large place. My father lives in Phuket and I go and visit him often. He lives half an hour away from Patong, where there are other beaches that are very relaxing and allow you to get away from crowds. Phuket is a great place to go for a family holiday, I strongly recommend it.
