Budgeting for Thailand trip – help??
Is 60 000 baht enough for 3 weeks?
I would like to buy a camera, a couple of tailor made suits, other clothes, acceseries… Eat decent food and enjoy the night life. Would like to stay in 3 star accomadation.
Have heard that everything is a bargain so one should take more than the expect to spend. Could you maybe brake the budget down into how much I would need for food/entertainment/accomodation and then how much for shopping?
Leaving South Africa on the 30th of November and returning on the 21st of December, so will be in thailand for approx 20 days. Bangkok for a few days and then the islands aroung Phuket??

You will needs lots more than that,
as a guide for all locations look at 1,000bt day for accommodation.
Food in Thailand is very cheap if you eat Thai (and there should be no reason not to) go for 700bt day.
Entertainment, now this is the big question. What do you want to do there.
Having traveled so far you Will want to look around the place and do a couple of trips. This is where the money goes.
If all you want to do is sit in the bars and watch the world go by, look at 1,000bt day.
Internal flights are cheap but do mount up when you take a couple. Bangkok to Phuket is currently 3,300bt Rtn, Samui is 500bt more and the same for Chiang Mai. Its high season now.
So already you are up to 64,000bt, and you haven’t done any shopping yet !!!
I usually have a daily allowance of 8,000bt per day all in, but then I treat Drunkenness as a Lifestyle Choice.
One thing is for sure, you will have a good time no matter what your budget is, and you will go back.
Provided you don’t stay this time, and it has happened.

Overstaying your visa is expensive, and you will need 500bt cash for airport tax when you leave.
