Suggestions for travel in Thailand?
We are travelling from UK to Thailand at Easter for 10 days holidays.
Wanting to include Phuket and River Kwai tour.
2 x 30something adults.
Any suggestions, or tips on things to avoid?
NO INTEREST IN ADVERTISEMENTS FROM TRAVEL AGENTS PLEASE
Depending if you’re a couple or 2 guys or 2 girls traveling here is my suggestion:
Go to BKK and explore the Capital City for a few days.
This is where you will find the best and cheapest shopping.
The River Kwai tour is available from any travel agent in BKK (there are soooo many, 1 on every corner
). Daytrips with everything included. (transportation to and from the hotel, guide, snacks, softdrinks, the whole lot).
If you’re looking for some nightlife and party Pattaya is close by and it’s famous (or infamous) for it’s nightlife. Personally I don’t really like it, it’s toooo much for me but I’ve been living in Phuket for 4 years… So maybe i’ve got to much of the partylife ![]()
Phi phi is something that EVERYONE goes to, but very few are happy about…
I find the locals very rude and and many cases unfriendly and it’s very expensive.
I recommend that you go to Phuket after your stay in BKK. If you want nightlife, Patong is the place to be. If you want popular tourist beaches Kata, Karon, Kamala and Surin would be the place to be and if you want a bit more “genuine” Thailand, go for the north part of Phuket. NaiThon, NaiYang, Mai Khao. (and Bangtao).
Something in between and my personal favorite is NaiHarn beach. Beautiful beach on the very south tip of the island. Many expats like myself lives here.
When in Phuket there are daytrips to all other “musts” in Thailand. Phi phi island daytrips, James Bond Island, Similian and so on.
If you’ve got any other questions, just send an email
Enjoy your trip.
