is it safe to travel thailand now?
There have been a lot of news reports about the political unrest currently going on in thailand and I wasn’t sure if it would be a good idea to plan a trip there for july 2010. The place I’d like to go to is Phuket, Thailand. Is that far away from the problems?
The majority of the problems that you are hearing about in the news are in the capital city, Bangkok.
Phuket is about 500 miles away from Bangkok, and I would definitely recommend a trip there. It has some great beaches, great weather and your money will go really far. Everything there is so cheap.
My parents are in Thailand at the moment and it isn’t the first time they have been whilst a political protest is taking place. They are staying in a city about 70 miles from Bangkok and are not seeing anything out of the ordinary where they are, so Phuket is sure to be fine.
In case you didn’t know already, July is a pretty wet season in Thailand. Be prepared for daily rain and thunderstorms, but also for the intense heat and humidity.
